Happy Easter!

It was a wonderful last week with the Sea Turtles! I don't think it has hit me yet that I won't be seeing them on a weekly basis, sad! But I truly cherish the memories, each boy, and can look back at what a wonderful two years it has been!
Hope you all have a very Happy Easter!

Sea Turtle Shower

The Sea Turtles sure surprised me when they tricked me into thinking we were having a St. Patrick's Day party, but really we were having a Sea Turtle shower! They were so excited to tell me when we walked into the classroom! Pretty funny as I was just talking to them about proper party etiquette for our St. Patrick's Day party! It was the most wonderful surprise to share a meal with them and then open the most thoughtful gifts and cards! I was overwhelmed with emotion and joy. Thank you to all of the moms who put this wonderful event together, I am still in awe! The personalized book is beyond amazing, I love to look through it (and tear up) and know baby girl will think it is just as special! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything!!

Festivities!

This past week was a great one for the Sea Turtles! We worked on mother's day gifts, yes, quite early, but want to get a head start before I take my maternity leave! The moms of the class hosted a beautiful and FUN library shower for me, which was such a treat. I am still basking in the shower glow. Thank you so much for all of your kindness and generosity, my cup runneth over! On Friday we spent the morning at Casa Dorinda where the children of the whole school sang some beautiful songs for the residents in the medical building. I was so proud of the boys as they each introduced themselves to at least 2 elderly people! They told them their name and asked a question! Great life lessons being learned. This next week will be all about St. Patrick's Day!
See you Monday!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

The Sea Turtles had a great weekend celebrating Dr. Seuss with lots of activities including making green eggs and ham! This year they ALL loved the green eggs and happily ate seconds. The boys felt really good about themselves as they each got to crack an egg! A couple shells fell in, but they dug them out. The children have been very interested in sounding out words and reading chapter books. They have been doing a great job recalling information about the story, building their reading comprehension skills!
This upcoming week we will be working on various projects and look forward to our trip to Casa Dorinda!
See you Monday!

Math Mania

This past week the Sea Turtles enjoyed lots of math challenges. They engaged in hands-on subtraction and addition activities and I think surprised themselves at how much they grasped! The boys are loving new challenges and eager to learn. They have all taken on positive attitudes when it comes to trying new things which will be so helpful once they enter in kindergarten and in life in general!
Tours have been coming through our classroom and the boys always greet the person with a hello and I have volunteers go up and introduce themselves. I ask them, "where do you look when you speak to someone?" They all loudly respond, "EYES!" Not only are they cognitively growing, but their confidence is abounding!
This next week will be all about Dr. Seuss!
See you Monday!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The Sea Turtles had a wonderful week preparing for Valentine's Day. We engaged in all activities related to the festive holiday including candy heart patterning, candy heart addition, heart letter sounds, creating and painting gifts, and much more. The boys were very excited to have me back in class after being gone for a couple days. We are looking forward to our class Valentine's Day party!
See you Monday!

Picasso

This past week the Sea Turtles studies some of Pablo Picasso's most famous works. They created beautiful renditions of the cubism movement as well as The Three Musicians and Hand with Flowers. It is so interesting to see each one's unique take on the artist's pieces to make them their own! We also enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year, the year of the dragon. We also have been using domino's, which started in China, as a math tool to work on addition problems. The boys have also been doing a phenomenal job sounding out letters to read a word. They have been blowing me away!
See you Monday!
