Art Appreciation!

The Sea Turtles had a wonderful week of art appreciation exploring various artists. The children made exquisite replicas of Van Gogh's Sunflowers, Monet's Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies and did a creative take on Picasso's style of cubism. Exposure is key at this age and we definitely accomplished that this past week. Colton's mom, Megan, was a huge help coming into the classroom and guiding the children in the process of Monet's style of painting. Thank you!
This next week will be all about Mother's Day preparations and Cinco de Mayo! Woohoo! Looking forward to the Mother's Day picnic on Friday!
See you Monday!

Celebrating Our Earth!

This past week was all about our Earth, healthy living and environment awareness! We said "see you soon" to Finley on Monday, had Robert's big brother Mikey as a special visitor on Wednesday and celebrated our article in the Montecito Journal and had a party for Earth Day on Thursday! We had great discussions about healthy eating habits, we talked about leading a balanced lifestyle and how to make good food choices. The children also did a great uppercase and lowercase matching activity to work on alphabet awareness.
This next week will be all about exploring various artists and their most famous works of art: Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Monet's Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies to name a few.
See you Monday!

Springtime Joys!

The Sea Turtles had a wonderful week exploring ladybugs and butterflies with engaging activities. They especially enjoyed being able to hold the ladybugs in their hands and then releasing them into the garden! The children also did exceptionally well with a number sequencing lesson and I was so proud of each one of them.
Thank you to those who supported our Positive Parenting Panel, it was a big success!
This next week will be all about the environment with a special celebration on Thursday for Earth Day. We will make a world map using hand prints of blue and green, have conversations about healthy living, and let their imaginations run wild by creating art with recycled materials!
See you Monday!

Back in Action!

School is back in session after Spring Break and the Sea Turtles are thrilled! We are all so happy to be back together learning and having fun. This past week we reflected on our successful Transition House project by making a class book using pictures and dictation. We also created a friendship wreath to share with the kids from the Transition House. We received a letter in the mail from them and a homemade thank you card and the kids were delighted.
We also created a flower garden on our new bulletin board the kids so colorfully painted!
Next week we will engage in math and number sequencing activities by using our ladybug theme and alphabet awareness with a butterfly theme!
See you Monday!
Love, Miss Meika
