Picasso

This past week the Sea Turtles studies some of Pablo Picasso's most famous works. They created beautiful renditions of the cubism movement as well as The Three Musicians and Hand with Flowers. It is so interesting to see each one's unique take on the artist's pieces to make them their own! We also enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year, the year of the dragon. We also have been using domino's, which started in China, as a math tool to work on addition problems. The boys have also been doing a phenomenal job sounding out letters to read a word. They have been blowing me away!

Enjoying Togetherness

Another great week went by with the sea turtles, I look back at these blog posts and think, are the weeks ever not great?? And the truth is they are ALL so wonderful. I feel like I gush about these boys way too much, but that is because they truly are the most wonderful children. They all possess beautiful and unique characteristics for four and five year old boys. When I tell people I have an all boy class, their faces are nothing less than shocked or I get a shake of the head as in to say poor you. Everyday is a blessing with them and I enjoy every second. I believe they feel the same way about me and each other. The camaraderie between these boys is so special. We are a very fortunate group.
This next week will be all about Chinese New Year, but we will also take a look at the works of Pablo Picasso and recreate some of his most famous work!
See you Monday!

Papas, PJs, and Pancakes!

The Sea Turtles had a very exciting week. We welcomed "awesome" Dawson into our class who will be joining us on Mondays. The boys were very welcoming and during circle time, each boy told Dawson what they would do with him, like playing in the sandbox or sharing a book. Very sweet and inclusive. We ended the week with Papas, PJs, and Pancakes. The dads came in full force with their jammies and robes on ready to mingle. They truly enjoy each others company! Thank you to all the dads who were able to make it! What a great day!

Back in Action!

The Sea Turtles were so excited to be back together after a two week hiatus. We got right back in the swing of things as they greeted each other with warm regards. Such a seamless transition, makes it much easier on me! Although the month of January is usually used to study all things winter, it hardly seems like winter here in Santa Barbara with the hot weather we have been having! Nonetheless we are moving right along and getting into math concepts like counting by ones, twos, and fives. The boys always love a challenge! This next week we will be concentrating on letter sounds and looking forward to our Papas, PJs, and Pancakes event on Friday!
See you Monday!
