Happy Halloween!

The Sea Turtles had a great week preparing for the excitement of the Fall Festival! From decorating our generously donated bags with fun stickers to helping Mr. Shawn carve our pumpkin into a pirate ship! A big thank you to all of those who contributed to helping the Fall Festival be so successful! Thank you also for coming and spending the day with us, I love spending time with you! The kids loved seeing each other's costumes and mine, even though I think some of them were surprised Miss Meika was in a head to toe gecko costume :).
The next two weeks we will be engaging in activities all about pirates, a constant theme the children bring up so I thought it would be appropriate to merge into our curriculum!
See you Monday!

A Class Tree and Picture Day!

The Sea Turtles had a spectacular week filled with the creation of a class tree decorated with leaves the children cut, water colored and sponge painted! They were so proud and chose exactly where on the branches their leaves would go! Thank you Jen (Declan's mom) for coming in and assisting with that project! We continue enjoying the bike yard as the boys love filling up their bicycles with "gas" at the pump. The lower playground also continues to be a big hit where we love to play pirates, frequent phrases can be heard yelled by any of the Sea Turtles: "Hoist the anchor matey, arrrrgh matey, rough waters ahead, the treasure is near, shiver me timbers," and so forth. We will definitely be engaging in a pirate themed week during the month of November! Picture Day was Friday and each child was just darling, looking forward to receiving the class picture!
This next week will be all things Halloween!
See you Monday!

Pumpkins and Firefighters!

Firefighters, mom's breakfast party, pumpkin patch and a birthday! What more could the Sea Turtles ask for?! We had a wonderful week full of exciting events. Thank you so much for all of your support in our class and school, I am so lucky to have such involved parents! The children have been working on their cutting skills, practicing straight and curved lines and are doing great! We have also focused on letter awareness, continuing our discussion about upper and lowercase letters!
The Autism Speaks walk and Walk for Water were two very successful events this past weekend, thank you for your attendance and encouragement!
This next week will be all about Fall, creating a class tree full of fall leaves the children will cut out as well as watercolor! Picture day is on Friday! Woohoo!
See you Monday!

Fall Is Here!

The Sea Turtles had another great week despite rain! We stayed busy with our new clubhouse that we were able to paint on Friday! The boys absolutely love it, the Sea Turtle classroom is turning into a mini-fraternity :). We had three boys visit our class from Room 3 (total 9 boys) and we had a great day with them! We also engaged in a size sequencing activity as well as a pumpkin seed counting activity. A great way to reinforce one to one correspondence and numeral awareness.
This next week will be all about pumpkins, celebrating Matt's 4th birthday, and our big pumpkin patch visit on Friday!
See you Monday!

You Are the Apple of My Eye!

The Sea Turtles had a fantastic week exploring all about apples! We made beautiful patterned apple prints, the children practiced their scissor cutting skills and demonstrated their sequencing knowledge! We also baked mini apple pies and the children loved chopping and pinching the dough to make their very own apple pie! Thank you to Susan and Jen for coming in to help in the classroom! Than you also to Sherri for supplying the apples! Love how involved all of the families are!
The children have been enjoying each other so much! I love the close bonds they are creating. Whether they are talking about play dates, or giving up a swing so another can have a turn, or playing restaurant and waiting on each other, these boys definitely get along!
Next week we will be engaging in activities related to our 5 senses and bodies! Think mystery touch bags and spices!
See you Monday!
