La Belle Vie!

From Vincent Van Gogh to Claude Monet, the Sea Turtle's rendition of these classic works of art are remarkable. The children truly enjoyed the Monet unit and the new concept of painting with acrylic with a "dab dab dab" technique, much different than the usual wide brush stroke with tempera they are used to. Come visit our classroom to see our take on Van Gogh's "Sunflowers," and each of their Monet paintings will be up on the main school bulletin later this week! The month of February is quickly approaching and there are a lot of exciting things in store like the coin drive to benefit the Transition House, Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Mary Rice Hopkins Concert, and President's Day! WOW!
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Papas, PJs, and Pancakes!

Papas, PJs, and Pancakes was a huge success! What a joy it was to have dads and grandpas join us for a wonderful morning! We started off by playing with legos and trains, circle time, and Bill (Declan's dad) reading Knuffle Bunny. From there the children either helped with mixing the pancake batter or decorated bookmarks. We enjoyed a nice meal together and more importantly enjoyed each others company. The boy's grins were ear to ear the entire morning, beautiful moments shared! Thank you to all who contributed, helped, and participated! The Sea Turtle classroom has such strong bonds with each other and its nice to see those strong relationships are also shared between the parents and grandparents!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Snowy Sea Turtles!

Although this week we focused on the creation of our snowmen and stories, the weather was absolutely beautiful and the sea turtles enjoyed the benefits of our outdoor classroom fully! The boys loved creating their snowmen out of model magic and individualizing them in size and accessories! The stories they made up about them will make another fabulous class book! Today we began prepping for our art unit which will begin next week with our take on Van Gogh's "Sunflowers." We are also looking very much forward to our Papas, PJs, and Pancakes event on Friday.
Have a wonderful long weekend!
See you Wednesday!

Back in Action!

The first week back from winter vacation was a short, but mighty one! The boys are so incredibly and genuinely happy to be back together, it is so endearing to see firsthand. This past week we focused on rules and expectations, always important to review after a long break. The children were right back on schedule with polite manners and cooperative skills flourishing. We worked on matching, patterning, and creating invitations for our Papas, PJs, and Pancakes event on January 21st.
Next week we will be creating snowmen out of model magic and making stories of how they came to life. I think a class book is in the works!
See you Monday!
