Happy Holidays!

WOW! School is out for winter break and our class finished the week off with some fun activities! Besides all of the beautiful art projects the children created, the kids have been into big floor puzzles lately. They use their words to take turns, help put the pieces together and collaborate to finish it as a group!
Las Posadas was a huge hit, thank you to all of the families who came and helped make the event so successful. Thank you also for the generous gifts, I feel overwhelmed with love!
Have a wonderful break and I am looking forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks!

December Birthdays!

After a full week of hand print angels, gingerbread people and Hanukkah, the children are very excited about the holiday season. Thank you to Winifred, Cooper's mom, who came to do a special reading for us on Friday!
December has also been full of birthday celebrations! This past week both Spencer and Luke turned the big 4! Yipee! Other than that we had a very successful Christmas program with a lot of support from the families. Thank you to all who came! The children were absolutely adorable doves and really knew the songs :).
On Wednesday Pastor Harold did Chapel and left us with a wonderful message of the importance of giving, even if it is simply saying, "I love you."
Lately we have been playing "what's the missing letter" in class and the children just love it. Please ask them about it!
I am looking forward to this next week which will be full of all things Christmas and our Las Posadas celebration on Friday!

See you tomorrow!

Advent Season is here!

Yeah! I just love the month of December - lights, trees and warm, fuzzy feelings! The Sea Turtles have started off December right by decorating our class Christmas tree, making Advent calendars, listening to the nativity story and lots of art projects that involve glitter and the colors red and green. We also celebrated Greer's 4th birthday! The children have been practicing their songs for the Christmas program which I am looking so much forward to!
The themes for this next week will consist of angels, gingerbread and Hanukkah!
See you tonight!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The kids had an exciting week filled with birthday fun and learning! Cooper and Colton both turned 4! The children were busy collaborating with each other and engaging in a turkey themed week. They worked together on an alphabet train puzzle and were so proud when they completed it. The Thanksgiving lunch was also a huge success, the decorations were beautiful and the food was delicious! Thank you to all who helped!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with your families. Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

The Sea Turtles had a short week, but a productive one! With a teacher in-service and Veteran's Day in between, we managed to conclude our study on the letter Ff and continue identifying patterns and sequencing. The kids even made traditional Native American garb out of paper bags from Trader Joe's! The children also worked on cutting curves as they made tissue paper corns - very festive and fun!
Next week will be all about being thankful and turkeys! Think hand-print turkeys, turkey bingo, a class blessings book and paper plate turkeys with hand cut feathers! Woo hoo!

See you Monday!

November!

November! Woo hoo! A new month for the Sea Turtles and we've started it off with a bang! From Fall leaves to Fall trees, the Sea Turtles have been busy cutting, gluing, painting and cooking! The children water colored paper leaves with green, red, yellow and brown and our new class tree is looking beautiful. This is how we make the leaves change color in Santa Barbara! We made red playdough in the classroom and the kids really enjoyed the process of seeing firsthand how it is made...As Colton said, it went from a "red soup" to "nice and soft." Francesca's mom, Kate, came into the classroom to read a story and the kids were engaged and loved it. Francesca was a good helper by turning the pages. We also celebrated Robert's 4th birthday, Happy Birthday!
Looking forward to next week where we will be learning about Pilgrims, Native Americans and the letter Ff!
See you Monday!

Happy Halloween!!

The Fall Festival was such a fun time! I want to especially thank all of the families who came and helped set-up the booths, donated prizes, volunteered, provided snack and overall supported our sweet school. How blessed we are to have you all in our lives! As Luke would say, "Hip hip hurrah!"
The Sea Turtles had a great week! We were busy with so many exciting projects like woodworking with Mr. Shawn, making pumpkin pancakes, creating scarecrow bags, carving a class pumpkin and enjoying lots of time on the bike yard!
What a wonderful month October has been! I am looking forward to what the month of November will bring as I am sure even more good things are to come!
Happy Halloween!
See you Monday!

Octoberfest!

This past week was filled with special events: the Montecito Fire Department visit, parent/teacher conferences, a visit to the Montecito Library, picture day and Aedan's 4th birthday! The children were busy and happy! We finished up our study on owls and the letter Dd. The kids had a great time seeing how the bat song also applied to the owl song, besides the sleeping upside down part :). The kids are so innovative as they created a self made tree in our classroom to house our many owl projects they made throughout the week. Come take a look!
This next week we will be all about pumpkins! We will be carving a pumpkin as a class, painting pumpkins, counting pumpkin seeds, and much more! Looking forward to the Fall Festival this Friday as well!
See you Monday!
