So long January...

The Sea Turtles had a great last week of January! We enjoyed the beautiful, sunny weather and definitely took advantage of it by spending as much time as possible outside! The kids loved riding bicycles and filling up their bikes at the gas station, swinging on the swings, running and swinging across the monkey bars! The class also completed their snow person project and the end result is just amazing! The book and exhibit have been well received by everyone! The kids loved reading each other's stories and looking at the pictures.
I am so excited about the month of February as I have lots of engaging and exciting lessons and activities planned! Groundhog Day, Valentine's, Chinese New Year and President's Day are some of the themes we will be exploring!
See you Monday!

Rain Rain Go Away!

The Sea Turtles had a rainy week full of torrential downpours, thunder and lightning storms! We still managed to have a great time finishing up our snow person activity. The children have been busy creating their very own snow person with a story to go along with it. We will soon be done and bind their creative stories into a class book! The children are excited about our new alphabet letter center where they love looking for the letters in their own names.
We welcomed back Greer from vacation on Friday!
This next week we will be hoping for sun and focusing on our matching skills and identifying upper and lowercase letters. We will also be making mud pie out of chocolate pudding :).
See you Monday!

New Adventures!

Hurrah! What a wonderful week the Sea Turtles had! Our days were filled with new and exciting adventures! We explored sounds of the alphabet through a mystery bag game. The children looked at objects like a bat, ball, boat, balloon, etc to guess which sound went with what letter. We also explored art with marble painting things like mittens and snow people. Yet our most exciting event was on Friday when we had Papas, PJs and Pancakes! It was so much fun to have the dads there participating in a hands-on way and exploring alongside their children. I had a wonderful time observing and talking with the dads! Thank you to everyone who made this event so successful. I know the children truly enjoyed it, as did I.
Next week we will be working with model magic creating original snow people and stories.  We will also continue alphabet awareness and have our 2nd friendship group on Friday!
See you Tuesday!

Welcome Back!

The Sea Turtles had a great first week back from winter break! The kids did not miss a beat as they returned to class with enthusiasm and positive attitudes. They explored the classroom and found new and exciting materials and reconnected with each other and me :). The kids had a great time making cereal necklaces, exploring science with a balloon experiment and color exploration and reading a fun new book about an odd penguin named Tacky! We also had our first friendship group and the kids did phenomenal by engaging with the material in meaningful ways.
Next week we will be focusing on alphabet awareness activities, exploring with model magic for the first time in class and enjoying our pancake day with dads on Friday!
See you Monday!
