Happy Halloween!!

The Fall Festival was such a fun time! I want to especially thank all of the families who came and helped set-up the booths, donated prizes, volunteered, provided snack and overall supported our sweet school. How blessed we are to have you all in our lives! As Luke would say, "Hip hip hurrah!"
The Sea Turtles had a great week! We were busy with so many exciting projects like woodworking with Mr. Shawn, making pumpkin pancakes, creating scarecrow bags, carving a class pumpkin and enjoying lots of time on the bike yard!
What a wonderful month October has been! I am looking forward to what the month of November will bring as I am sure even more good things are to come!
Happy Halloween!
See you Monday!

Octoberfest!

This past week was filled with special events: the Montecito Fire Department visit, parent/teacher conferences, a visit to the Montecito Library, picture day and Aedan's 4th birthday! The children were busy and happy! We finished up our study on owls and the letter Dd. The kids had a great time seeing how the bat song also applied to the owl song, besides the sleeping upside down part :). The kids are so innovative as they created a self made tree in our classroom to house our many owl projects they made throughout the week. Come take a look!
This next week we will be all about pumpkins! We will be carving a pumpkin as a class, painting pumpkins, counting pumpkin seeds, and much more! Looking forward to the Fall Festival this Friday as well!
See you Monday!

Learning and Growing!

After a week of studying bats, I believe the kids have a firm understanding that bats are nocturnal and sleep upside down! We had a great week learning about bats: counting, coloring, painting, cutting and gluing different projects about them! With two days of solid rain, we placed a bucket outside to observe how much it would fill up. The kids enjoyed seeing the end result; the bucket filled up to the top with rainwater, which they were then able to use to water the inside school plants! The children also continued working on their cutting skills and working on their knowledge of the alphabet! All in all, another fantastic week in the Sea Turtles class!
We also welcomed a new student, Colton, who will be joining our class on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Hurrah!
Looking forward to this next week as we begin our exploration of owls!
See you tomorrow!

Happy October!

With the weather changing, it actually feels like Fall in Santa Barbara! The Sea Turtles had a wonderful week exploring the 5 senses, the letter C, the obstacle course and went on a fabulous field trip to the Pumpkin Patch! Heath's dad, Mike, stopped by on Wednesday and set up a great obstacle course full of balance beams, basketball, tunnels, a trampoline and scooters! The kids loved it! We finished up studying and learning about the letter B and decided to have a "B " party where we made blueberry muffins, Francesca said, "Wow, these are actually good!" The kids were also very engaged with the 5 senses where they made touch boards with different textures, experimented with colors, and smelled spices and classified them.
The field trip to Lane Farms was great and the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves! Thank you to all of the parents for being there to support your children! :)
I am looking forward to this next week where we will be studying bats and finishing the letter C and moving onto the letter D!
See you tomorrow!

Apples, apples, apples! The Sea Turtles were busy all week learning all about apples! The children made beautiful apple prints with green, red and yellow. Making a number line with apple seeds was a great way for the kids to show their counting skills. On Tuesday, the class even made mini apple pies doing most of the work themselves (besides handling the oven)! They chopped, sprinkled and pinched the dough to make individual pies - mmm! Patterning, matching, sorting by color and apple mosaics were also worked on throughout the week! On Friday, we conducted a scientific experiment where the children each gave a hypothesis on what they thought would happen if we placed an apple in the water... Well, it floats! Be sure to ask your kids about it!
The month of October is going to be wonderful! This next week we will be learning about senses: grabbing in touch bags, using droppers to make colors, using descriptive words to describe different surfaces and much more!
See you Monday!
