Ciao February!

The last week of February proved to be an excellent one in the Sea Turtle classroom! The kids had a great time on their trip to Santa Barbara Bank & Trust where they were able to see the vault and the ATM machine from behind the scenes. We continued the theme of money in the classroom and the kids did a great job sorting coins from the Storytellers Coin Drive collection! The kids also participated in an Olympic themed obstacle course where everyone won a gold medal :).
The month of March is filled with super exciting themes and lessons including our Make-A-Difference service learning project. Next week we will celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with
a week full of activities like Wacky Wednesday and Green Eggs and Ham!
See you Monday!

Year of the Tiger!

Gung hay fat choy! This past week the kids learned all about Chinese New Year and engaged in many cultural activities related to the holiday. From making dragons to Chinese flags to learning how to say hello in Chinese (ni hao) and partaking in a parade, the kids were quite busy!
We welcomed a new student, Mills, and his sweet family to our class! Yeah!! We are also very happy to have Luke and his fam back from vacation!
This next week will be very exciting as we have a field trip scheduled to Santa Barbara Bank and Trust where the kids will be able to experience the vault and get a sneak peak at an ATM machine from the inside! We will continue the theme of money in the classroom as it relates to our field trip and coin drive for Storytellers Preschool downtown. Think coin rubbing, coin patterns, coin cleaning and much more!
See you Monday!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy V-Day everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend (I know I am)! This past week was just a joy and our classroom was bursting with love. The Sea Turtles were busy finishing up their special frame project, engaging in lots of festive crafts, patterning, numerical work and enjoying time on the bike yard! Thank you to all the parents for helping make both of our Valentine's Day parties so much fun! I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful class full of amazing children and supportive parents!
See you next week!

Hello February!

Yeah! The Sea Turtles have started off the month of February on the right heart... I mean foot ;). We have been busy with lots of special Valentine's projects which include lovebugs, tissue paper hearts, glitter hearts and a secret project that I'm hoping the kids haven't said anything about yet...! The children also engaged in a prediction activity for Groundhog Day, learned about comparing differences in objects in terms of thick/thin, tall/short, big/small and we even made smoothies for snack where the kids had to remember step-by-step instructions. Overall a fantastic week!
We also welcomed a new student to our class, Finley! We are all so excited to have her join our class as I know she will be a great addition! She fit right in when she came to visit on Friday helping put on a class play: The 3 Princesses and 2 Lions, too cute!
The school has adopted 2 girl guinea pigs that have been visiting the classrooms. The children have loved being able to pet them and begin to care for them!
Next week we will be busy with more Valentine activities and lessons on numerical value, patterning and alphabet bingo!
See you Monday!
